Cramp plant, scientifically known as Viburnum opulus, is a deciduous shrub native to Europe, Northern Africa, and Northern Asia. Also commonly referred to as guelder rose, it grows up to 5 meters in height and displays attractive clusters of white flowers in spring, followed by bright red berries in autumn. The leaves are lobed and deeply veined, giving them an intricate and textured appearance. The plant gets its name from its historical use as a remedy for muscle cramps and spasms. Various parts of the cramp plant, including the bark, roots, and berries, contain compounds that have been traditionally used to alleviate menstrual cramps, muscle tension, and gastrointestinal discomfort. However, it's important to note that the use of cramp plant for medicinal purposes should be done under the guidance of a healthcare professional, as improper use or ingestion of certain parts of the plant can be toxic. With its beautiful flowers and potential therapeutic benefits, cramp plant adds both aesthetic and medicinal value to gardens and landscapes
