This popular hair-care oil is free of dye, emollients, scents, additives and chemicals of any kind. It is also used in combination with other oils for skin care.

A liquid wax rather than an oil, jojoba mimics sebum and penetrates skin very rapidly. It is therefore not good for massage, but excellent for nourishing skin. It is healing for inflamed skin, psoriasis, eczema, or any sort of dermatitis.

It can help control acne and oily skin or scalp since excess sebum actually dissolves in jojoba. Jojoba is anti-oxidant and may help extend the life of other oils.

Used also for hair care. Good for all skin types, but can sometimes clog pores.

The myristic acid it contains is anti-inflammatory, so this could be a good base oil for treating rheumatism and arthritis. Use a 10% dilution or full strength.

Acne Recipe:
50ml Jojoba oil, 8 drops Lavender oil, 3 drops Geranium oil, 4 drops Bergamot oil. Apply to affected areas 1-2 times daily.

Tucson Jojoba Oil and Beer Conditioner:

1 cup warm beer
1 teaspoon jojoba oil

Mix together. Shampoo and rinse as usual.

Jojoba oil is non-greasy and adds shine to your hair while beer adds body.

Easy Lip Balm - Lip Gloss Recipe

This is an easy all-purpose lip balm recipe. You can adapt this natural recipe to add flavorings (e.g., a few drops of peppermint extract, lemon flavor, or vanilla), or therapeutic ingredients (e.g., a few drops of vitamin E). If you wish to sweeten the balm, add a bit of honey.

Time to Make ~15 minutes
Pipette or dropper
Measuring spoons
Double boiler or set a bowl over a pan of boiling water
Tins or other small sealable containers for the finished product

2 tablespoons coconut oil
1 tablespoon cocoa butter
2 teaspoons beeswax
10-20 drops jojoba oil
Optional - drops of honey or flavoring or vitamin E oil

Melt the coconut oil, cocoa butter, and beeswax in a double boiler or over hot water.
Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

Stir in the jojoba oil and any additional ingredients.

Pour the balm into a clean container. Set the lid on top of the container, but slightly ajar to allow any moisture to escape.

Seal the container once the lip balm has cooled/solidified.
