Black Cohosh Root Cut & Sifted 1 lb

Black cohosh (Actaea racemosa) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to North America. The plant typically grows up to 2.5 meters (8 feet) in height and has feathery, deeply-lobed leaves that grow up to 30 cm (12 inches) long. Black cohosh produces tall, upright spikes of small, white flowers that bloom from late spring to early summer. The flowers are arranged in clusters and have a sweet, slightly musky fragrance. The root of the black cohosh plant has been traditionally used for medicinal purposes, and contains a number of bioactive compounds, including triterpene glycosides and isoferulic acid. It has been used in traditional herbal medicine to treat a variety of conditions, including menopause symptoms such as hot flashes, mood swings, and vaginal dryness. It has also been used to relieve menstrual cramps and as a natural remedy for inducing labor.
